What is an Allergy?

An allergy or intolerance is an adverse or inappropriate physical, physiological, or psychological response of an individual towards one or more substances encountered through inhalation, ingestion, infection, skin contact or due to genetic or emotional factors. Allergic reactions are determined by the way the brain perceives contact with the substance. If the brain considers the substance a threat to the body, it will order the immune system to fight off the "invasion" causing an allergic reaction.

Often this perception is incorrect and our brain triggers an inappropriate response. This faulty perception may be due to cellular mutation or damage that has taken place over several generations or to the difficulties the human body encounters when it has to adapt to a constantly evolving environment. This is why allergic reactions generally have very little to do with the properties of the substances that trigger them. It also explains why some substances are severely allergenic for some individuals but totally harmless or even vitally important, nutrients for example, for others.

What are the symptoms of an allergy?

Allergy symptoms are wide and varied. In reality an allergy or intolerence can be a contributing factor to any condition of ill health.

NAET

The Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique for the treatment of allergies and intolerences is drug free, needle free, pain free, and does not rely on long periods of avoidance of the allergen in order to be effective. Consultations begin with testing for allergens using Kinesiology, (muscle response testing), in the presence of potential allergens. Once the allergens have been identified then a series of treatment points on the back and limbs are stimulated as in acupressure in order to reprogram the brains response to the substance. The muscle is then retested to see if response has changed. For best results allergens are treated one at a time and in most cases each allergen is cleared with just one treatment. In complex cases more than one or combination treatments may be required. Visit the NAET Website for more information
